JED Launch: Transforming Event Management

Two months ago, we started building JED to solve a real problem: organizing nominations and voting for events was messy, manual, and scattered. Here's what we shipped in v1 and why it matters.

JED Launch: Transforming Event Management

Every event organizer knows the feeling. You're coordinating a nominations process over WhatsApp, tracking votes in a spreadsheet, and chasing people via email to confirm if their submission even went through. It's fragile, it's slow, and it puts the entire process at risk of human error precisely when it matters most.

That was the problem we set out to solve.

Two months ago, the JED team sat down with a simple question: What would it look like if nominations and voting for events just worked, cleanly, transparently, and without the chaos? Today we're sharing what we built.

What We Shipped

Nominations

Before JED, collecting nominations for an event meant juggling forms, emails, and manual tracking. With v1, organizers can send out nomination forms directly through the platform. Participants receive a clean, straightforward form they can fill out without needing an account or technical knowledge. Every submission lands in one place, making it easy to review, track, and manage nominees without anything slipping through the cracks.

No more chasing. No more consolidating responses from three different channels. Just a single, organized view of every nomination your event receives.

Voting

Once nominees are in, the voting begins, and that's where most platforms fall apart. Voting processes are often clunky, hard to trust, and difficult to monitor as an organizer.

In JED v1, voting happens directly on the platform. Participants can cast their votes in seconds, and every vote is securely recorded the moment it's submitted. As an organizer, you get a real-time dashboard that shows you exactly where things stand, no waiting for a final count, no manual tallying, no uncertainty about whether a vote was actually registered.

The result is a voting process that feels fast and fair for participants, and gives organizers full visibility from start to finish.

Why We Built It This Way

From the beginning, we had three things we weren't willing to compromise on.

Simplicity. Event organizers are not always technical people, and their audience certainly isn't. If the platform requires a manual to use, it has already failed. Every decision we made in v1 was filtered through the question: would someone with no technical background be able to figure this out on their own?

Security. Nominations and votes carry real weight. A compromised process doesn't just cause confusion; it undermines trust in the entire event. We built with data security as a foundation, not an afterthought.

Transparency. Real-time results matter. Whether you're running a pageant, a student award ceremony, or an industry recognition event, both organizers and participants deserve to see what's happening as it happens.

Who This Is For

In these first two months, we've already seen JED used across a range of events, campus competitions, association awards, and community recognition programs. The organizations that have tried it include student bodies at some of Ghana's leading universities, and the feedback has consistently pointed to one thing: the simplicity of running a process that used to take hours of manual coordination.

JED is built for anyone organizing an event where people need to nominate and vote, from a small departmental award to a large-scale annual gala.

What Comes Next

v1 is just the beginning. Nominations and voting were the foundation we needed to build on. The larger vision for JED is a fully integrated event management platform, one that handles ticketing, registrations, real-time analytics, and everything else an organizer needs to run a successful event end-to-end.

We're already building it.

If you've been managing nominations and voting the hard way, we'd love for you to try a better one. Sign up at jedevent.com and run your next event with JED.
